The Gift Economy Model

The E-volving Hearts Wellness Farm operates primarily on a Gift Economy. The Land and all Beings are not commodities to be sold, we are gifts to be offered.

It's something I have always valued and in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene we have experienced the powers and ability of such a way of walking in the world. It's actually been a way of living for way longer than capitalism and consumerism. I believe now is the perfect time to integrate it as much as possible while still needing to exist in the current system.

How does it work here? Everything we do here at the wellness farm is "give what you can". This often means monetary donations but we welcome other forms of gifts within a container. A part of the process for individual or small group offerings on the farm is stepping into Sacred Reciprocity. In this process there is a relationship with what you have to offer and what you are receiving rather than just a simple transaction.

AND, we have learned a key piece in a Gift Economy is the container. Following Helene we became overwhelmed with clothes and other donations that were not needed. They became a burden and trash while there was a gap in what was needed. This is why we work together to determine what's a good exchange.
